Students and Faculty may obtain Visual Studio Pro for their personally owned computers at no charge via the Microsoft Imagine program. Staff may purchase a license by contacting SHI, Software House International, at A copy of the installer can be requested following the purchase from Please attach a copy of the order confirmation from SHI when requesting the installer. Visual Studio Pro 2017 is available to faculty on University owned computers and open access student computer labs as part of the Purdue Imagine Standard program, formerly known as DreamSpark Standard, and may download the installer through Community Hub.
Visual Studio Professional 2017 provides a complete environment for individual developers building Microsoft Windows, web or mobile solutions. The West Lafayette, Calumet and North Central campuses are covered under the Microsoft agreement. Now that Visual Studio 2022 version 17.1 has been released, our Professional and Enterprise customers have the option to manage the timeframe as to when they adopt the new feature set of 17.1.
